ALS, 1850 June 12 : Indian Agency, Santa Fe, New Mexico, to John Monroe, Civil and Military Governor, Santa Fe.

Calhoun reports that ten Indian Chiefs came into Albiquiu on June 3 and signed a treaty that had been signed on December 30 by other Chiefs of the Utah tribe. The ten names are listed, including "the notorious Chico Velasquez"; also named are eight others as witnesses or interpreters. He says the Chiefs wanted powder so they would not suffer for meat, and wished to know where trading posts would be established.
